The CEO of Huawei Bangladesh finds hope of joint efforts in online education
Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Bangladesh, expressed hope that to make up for the loss of education sector affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic, everybody will work together to expand digital education, online learning and teaching methods in all educational institutions of the country.
He expressed these hopes at the award ceremony of the 'Call for Video Clips' competition at the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) in Dhanmondi on Wednesday (December 29).
Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Professor Dr. Syed Golam Farooq; National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) Director General Professor Dr. Nizamul Karim; Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i Department of ICT; Beatrice Kaldun, Head and Representative of UNESCO in Banglades;, A2I, and Director (Planning and Development) of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam was present in the event.
In this unfavorable time, the teachers of our country have showed that how have they been teaching the students in innovative ways through their various videos. Out of the numerous videos submitted to the competition, 20 teachers were selected as the final winners of the competition. All the winners were given tablets as prizes by Huawei.
The CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited delivered his valuable speech on the occasion. In his speech, he emphasized the sufferings of the teachers in Bangladesh during Covid-19 and also highlighted the way in which various organizations like Huawei have come forward to solve this problem.
Beatrice Kaldun, UNESCO's Head of Office and Representative in Bangladesh, emphasized the same importance as Huawei's CEO. Teachers will have to play a key role in reviving the education system in the future. I am very happy to announce that we have received video clips from 162 teachers across the country, through which we have come to know about the innovative ways in which the teachers of the country have imparted education during the challenging Covid-19. We are extremely grateful to Huawei for its overall support, including joining the initiative and providing tablets to the 20 winners.”
Zhang Zhengjun said, “Our education sector has faced many adversities during the global pandemic. Since the beginning of March 2020, educational institutions have been declared closed due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, leaving 1.43 million children in Bangladesh dependent on distance learning activities.”
He added, “Huawei has been working as a member of the ICT family in Bangladesh for over 22 years. Huawei has taken various initiatives in collaboration with teachers of different schools, including various government ministries and commissions, to keep the teaching process going in Bangladesh during this difficult time of global epidemic. In this situation, we have also expanded our activities to make ICT facilities more accessible to more people. On the other hand, Huawei is conducting various activities including Seeds for the Future, ICT Competition, ICT Bus Project, DG-School Program and ICT Academy to develop the talents of the youth of Bangladesh. In this way, Huawei will continue to work dedicatedly for Bangladesh.”
The competition was jointly organized by UNESCO Bangladesh, a2i and the Department of Information and Communication Technology on the occasion of 'World Teachers' Day 2021'.
