According to a press release issued by the state-owned carrier, the agreement was signed on Thursday night, April 30, at a hotel in Dhaka. The statement noted that the deal aligns with priorities such as economic growth, strengthening global connectivity, improving passenger service quality, and the current government’s “Bangladesh First” vision.

On behalf of Biman, the agreement was signed by Managing Director and CEO Kaiser Sohel Ahmed, while Boeing was represented by its Vice President Paul Righi.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Kaiser Sohel Ahmed said the fuel-efficient and technologically advanced aircraft would support fleet modernization, enhance operational capacity, and expand the international route network.

Officials expressed hope that the agreement would further strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global aviation market.

Chairman of Biman’s Board of Directors Rumi A. Hossain and U.S. Ambassador to Dhaka Brent T. Christensen also addressed the ceremony.

Speakers expressed optimism that, beyond the aviation sector, the agreement would contribute to tourism development, expansion of economic activities, technology transfer, and job creation through the development of skilled human resources.
