Students from elementary level should be involved in programming: Mostafa Jabbar

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said that, everyone from the primary level should be involved in programming. In addition to creating a work environment especially for women, they also need to be given job security. Programming concepts are essential not only for future careers but also for developing the world of thought. To this end, initiatives have been taken to add coding from primary level under the Mixed Method Education Program initiative. He stressed the need for a social movement in this regard. The Minister was speaking as the chief guest while participating in a virtual event organized by BdOSN on Saturday to share experiences of the BD Girls Project on Inclusion of Girls in Digital Technology. Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal presided over the program while Najma Ashraf, Representative of Cumilla District Administration; Achia Nila, Executive Director, Women in Digital and others spoke on the event. The program was conducted by the BdOSN General Secretary Munir Hasan. The Minister for Posts and Telecommunications said that the participation of girls in education was remarkable and a milestone in the results. If girls can be given suitable environment and opportunities to work, it is possible for them to do extra ordinary creative works. The Minister highlighted his experience in organizing child-adolescent programming competitions, saying that children have programmed with extraordinary skill. The Minister expressed strong hope that by creating opportunities, it would be possible to utilize girls as excellent human resources for national progress. He called upon the district administration to get involved in the programming movement, adding that besides the government patronage, the private sector should also come forward in this regard. Describing BdOSN's programming initiative as an extraordinary initiative, Mostafa Jabbar said that girls have to handle the pressures of family work together as well as fulfill their professional responsibilities. Many girls are discouraged from pursuing a career because of their backwardness. This dreamer of digital transformation in education mentioned that many benefits can be obtained if women can be integrated into the mainstream by breaking down such barriers. In his speech, Professor Zafar Iqbal said that national progress is not possible without women, leaving half of the total population of the country behind. He noted that the country would benefit greatly if the existing barriers to the advancement of girls in the digital technology sector could be removed to meet the growing demand for human resources. He said that programming is a creative work and it is also entertaining. He emphasized the need for adequate government patronage in this regard. Achiya Nila of Women in Digital said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the participation of girls in her organization has come down to half. She said that this is happening due to various family problems. She called for removing these obstacles from the path of these girls.
