Palak urged to be careful while posting on Facebook
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, citing social media as a popular platform at present, said children and young people need to post on Facebook thinking about keeping themselves safe and secure.
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest while participating in the closing ceremony of the online talent award competition 2021 organized by the National Children's Task Force (NCTF) today.
He further said that internet usage is increasing day by day in our country. Nowadays the internet has become our basic need. He called on parents and teachers to be more vigilant in keeping children and adolescents safe on the Internet. Referring to the responsibility of parents to see what their children are doing on the internet, he said teachers can play an important role in making students aware of safe internet use in the classroom.
"Using the internet, we have now been able to bring everything to digital platforms," he said. Students are able to study online from home through free lessons. Besides, the health sector is also providing corona-related services with the help of the internet very easily.
An online cattle market has been arranged on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Where millions of animals are being sold. In order to make the Internet accessible to all, the ICT Department is taking up and implementing various programs under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the advice of ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed. He said that through today's event, more children and teenagers will be more aware.
The state minister thanked the organizers for organizing such an event for children. He also emphasized the need for children to use the internet safely and advised them to be vigilant at all times.
Among others, Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, Save the Children's Child Rights Governance and Child Protection Sector, Bagerhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Muhammad Mushabberul Islam, Sushma Das, General Secretary, Happy Dreams Foundation spoke on the occasion.
The closing ceremony was attended by 145 participants from among children and youth from 64 districts across the country.
At the end of the ceremony, the names of the winners of various competitions were announced.
