The 21st World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2024, held in Izmir, Turkey, celebrated outstanding global talent in robotics. With 562 teams from 87 countries participating, Malaysia emerged as the top performer, securing multiple awards, followed by Azerbaijan and India. Four teams from Bangladesh competed across categories like Future Engineers, Future Innovators, and Robo Sports but fell short of securing a spot on the winners' podium.

Despite this, Bangladesh's consistent participation since joining the WRO in 2020 highlights its growing potential in global robotics. Previous achievements include a bronze medal in 2022 and a fifth-place finish in 2023, underlining steady progress.

This year’s highlights included stellar performances in categories such as Robo Mission, Junior and Senior Divisions, and Future Engineers. Germany, Japan, Malaysia, and Hungary dominated these categories with innovative projects. Special awards also recognized creativity, technical solutions, and team spirit, with Azerbaijan and India among the honorees.

The 22nd edition of the Olympiad is set to take place in Singapore in 2025, offering renewed opportunities for Bangladesh and other nations to excel on the global stage. Maherul Azam Qureshi, deputy leader of the Bangladeshi delegation, remains optimistic about future participation, emphasizing the event's inspirational role for students.
