GDU Gains Ground: AI for Immersive Technology Training Begins

Under the supervision of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and as part of the BDCET project, Gazipur Digital University (GDU) has launched a three-month training program titled “AI for Immersive Technology” for its students. The inauguration and orientation ceremony of the training took place on Saturday, August 23, at the Kaliganj Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur, organized with the support of CUET IT Business Incubator Center.

In the first phase, 100 students are participating, with a total of 400 students expected to benefit from the program in subsequent phases. The full course spans three months, totaling 288 hours.

The training will provide students with hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies and their applications.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Vice-Chancellor of Gazipur Digital University was the chief guest at the ceremony. Special guests included Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Treasurer of the University, and Registrar Muhammad Ataur Rahman Khan. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Moshiul Haque, Director of CUET IT Business Incubator and IEEE Bangladesh Section.

Welcome remarks were delivered by Md. Tauquir Ahmed, Director of the University’s NICC Cell, while speeches were given by Md. Mosharraf Hossain, CEO of Deligit Limited, and student Fakhrul Hasan Faisal from the Internet of Things and Robotics Engineering Department.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf stated, “Immersive technology is now a critical field in the global market. This training is extremely important for our students to gain hands-on skills. I hope it will help them shape themselves according to future demands.”

Addressing the students, he added, “No matter how challenging, make time for such training. Initiatives like these will establish you as skilled human resources.”

Chair Professor Dr. Md. Moshiul Haque encouraged the students, saying, “In this era of rapid technological change, hands-on skills are essential. Such training helps you learn not only theoretical knowledge but also the real-world application of technology. Those who start this journey today will grow to become future technology innovators and leaders. Remember, curiosity and consistent effort are the key to success.”
