bKash Boosts Borrowing: Digital Loan Limit Raised to Tk 50,000

Mobile financial service provider bKash, in partnership with one of the country's leading private banks, The City Bank, has expanded the limit of its collateral-free digital loan service. Eligible users of the bKash app can now access loans up to Tk 50,000, up from the previous ceiling of Tk 30,000.
The development was confirmed in a press release issued by bKash. It stated that customers meeting the eligibility criteria can now "easily avail loans of up to Tk 50,000 from the bKash app at any time."
The press note further mentioned that loan amounts will be automatically determined based on a customer’s previous transaction history and credit profile, following City Bank’s credit risk management policy.
Launched in 2021, the joint nano-loan initiative by City Bank and bKash has already reached more than one million users. So far, over 5.5 million loans worth approximately Tk 2,800 crore have been disbursed.
The loan application process remains straightforward and paperless. Users can simply tap the “Loan” icon on the bKash app, select their desired amount within the approved limit, and confirm with their PIN. The loan amount is instantly transferred to their account. Customers have a maximum of six months to repay the loan through monthly installments, which are automatically debited on scheduled dates. Borrowers also have the flexibility to repay early, either partially or in full, paying interest only for the used duration. No additional charges apply for early repayment.
According to bKash, the decision to raise the limit was made "to better meet customer demand and enhance financial inclusion," in line with guidelines from the Bangladesh Bank. The company expressed hope that this accessible digital loan facility would serve as an effective and innovative model within the country's financial sector.
