Forensic Findings Fuel Furor: Hasina Linked to Controversial Audio, Tribunal Told

A recent forensic investigation has identified the voice in a widely circulated audio clip—stating “I have received a license to kill 227 people”—as that of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Investigation Agency.

On Wednesday, April 30, the tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor Tazul Islam confirmed the development. The hearing was held before a three-member judicial panel headed by Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumder.

Commenting on the matter, the Chief Prosecutor said, “In the audio circulated online, a person is heard saying, ‘I have 227 cases filed against me, so I have received a license to kill 227 people.’ The Investigation Agency has conducted forensic analysis of the audio and confirmed it is the voice of Sheikh Hasina.”

In light of the findings, a contempt of court petition has been filed against Sheikh Hasina at the tribunal, accusing her of issuing threats and attempting to interfere with judicial proceedings of the International Crimes Tribunal.
