Fostering Innovation: Atish Dipankar University Hosts Technology Workshop

A workshop titled “Fostering Innovation and Technology” was held at Atish Dipankar University on Monday (February 10) at the university auditorium. The keynote speaker at the event was Manzur Mohammad Shahriar, a digital entrepreneur and Project Director of the Innovation Ecosystem Development Project. He elaborated on the significance of Innovation Hubs in fostering technological advancements.

During his speech, Shahriar shared his personal experiences to inspire students and assured government support for establishing an Innovation Hub at Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology. Highlighting the importance of ICT training in reducing unemployment, he urged the youth to take advantage of the Innovation Hub to develop entrepreneurial skills. Additionally, he advised the university’s ICT, Agribusiness, and other departments to explore opportunities for entrepreneurship through the initiative.

The chief guest, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Haque Milon, former State Minister for Education and Director of the Skill Development Institute, emphasized, “Talent requires no visa; it transcends borders. The young generation of this country has sacrificed for democracy, and with modern technology, they will build a new Bangladesh.”

The workshop was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Atish Dipankar University, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mohammad Shamsul Alam Liton, was present as the guest of honor, along with Md. Kamruzzaman Litu, Member Secretary of the Board of Trustees, as a special guest.

Speaking at the event, Mohammad Shamsul Alam Liton announced plans to expand the Skill Development Institute (SDI) activities across seven divisions and gradually to sub-district levels. He emphasized that by implementing SDI programs and establishing industrial linkages, the initiative aims to empower 3.5 million unemployed individuals across the country.

Khondker Istiak Mahmud, Senior Consultant of the A2I Project under the ICT Division, stressed the importance of self-learning and the use of ChatGPT to integrate into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The workshop was moderated by Majid Ishtiaq Ahmed, Chairman of the Department of Robotics and Automation, while the Registrar of the university, Md. Abdul Qayum Sardar, delivered the welcome speech.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, expressed gratitude to all attendees and officially concluded the event. Faculty members, students, and officials of the university were present at the workshop.
