Qatar-Bangla Press Club Elects New Executive Committee for 2025-26
The biennial council and election of the Qatar-Bangla Press Club were held in a festive atmosphere at Doha Royal Aksa Restaurant on Saturday night. Fourteen journalists exercised their voting rights through a ballot-based election.
In the election for the 2025-26 term, Golam Mawla Hazari, the representative of Ekattor TV, was elected as the President, while Mamun Or Rashid, the representative of News24, was elected as the General Secretary through direct voting by journalists. The election was conducted under the supervision of Senior Journalist and Mohona TV representative, Yusuf Patwari Lincoln, who served as the Chief Election Commissioner. The results were announced by the Honorable Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, who attended as the chief guest and election observer.
The newly elected 16-member executive committee includes Senior Vice President Akbar Hossain Bacchu (Bangla TV), Vice President Amin Bepari (DBC News), Organizational Secretary Ahsan Ullah Sajib (SA TV), Treasurer Shakhawat Hossain Sagar (Nagorik TV), and Office Secretary Shahriar Shamim (Global TV). The executive members are E.M. Akash (TBN24 TV) and Yusuf Patwari Lincoln (Mohona TV).
Additionally, the observation panel comprises Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Dolon Khan, Mostag Ahmed Bappi, S. Alam Sabuj, Jisan Uddin, and Maya Howlader.
The election was also observed by prominent members of the Bangladeshi community, including Bangladesh Community President Anwar Hossain Akon, General Secretary Saiful Islam, and community leaders Syed Ana Mia, M.M. Noor, Abul Kashem, Norul Islam, Engineer Hossain, and Mahbubur Rahman Babu. Several foreign journalists were also present at the event.
