NBR Renames iVAS as e-VAT System to Streamline Online VAT Services

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced that all online VAT-related activities will now be conducted through the e-VAT system. The authority has clarified that the existing iVAS system has only been renamed as e-VAT, and there will be no change in its operations or services.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 23, the NBR said the decision was taken to avoid confusion arising from the similar pronunciation of the government’s Integrated Budget and Accounting System (iBAS) and the VAT Automation System (iVAS). Following the decision of the NBR’s sixth board meeting of 2025, the iVAS system has officially been rebranded as the e-VAT system.

According to the NBR, the e-VAT system will serve as the central platform for all online VAT services, including online VAT registration, submission of VAT returns, and all transactions conducted through e-challan and e-payment facilities.

In addition, VAT-related input–output coefficients submitted through the Mushak 4.3 form, as well as real-time VAT collection through PKI software-based applications, will also be managed under the e-VAT system. The NBR further noted that efforts are ongoing to enhance the system’s capacity, making online VAT services more user-friendly, efficient, and effective.
