TikTok Shop has launched digital gift cards in a bid to intensify competition in the e-commerce market, allowing users to easily support friends and family members in purchasing from the platform’s vast product catalogue. The development was reported by TechCrunch.

The feature has been strategically introduced ahead of the holiday season, a crucial period for TikTok’s shopping division. With the rollout of digital gift cards, TikTok Shop has stepped directly into competition with major e-commerce players such as Amazon and eBay. The platform has also recently expanded into the luxury goods segment as part of its broader growth strategy.

Users can purchase gift cards ranging in value from USD 10 to USD 500. The cards offer customization options through various animated designs and are delivered via email. Recipients must have a TikTok account to redeem the card, after which the value is instantly added to their TikTok balance.

Initially, the digital gift card feature has been launched exclusively in the United States. TikTok has also announced plans to introduce video message attachments to gift cards in early 2026.
