TikTok Tragedy: Two Killed in Train Roof Accident
In a tragic incident, two young men, identified as Abdul Kaiyum and Tarek, lost their lives after falling from the roof of a moving train while making a TikTok video in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria.
The accident occurred on Wednesday (April 2) at around 11:30 AM in the Gangasagar Bridge area of Mogra Union when they fell off the roof of the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train, which had departed from Chattogram.
Kaiyum was the son of Karim Miah from Debidwar in Cumilla district, while Tarek’s residence was in the Kasba Upazila of the same district. However, his detailed identity has not yet been confirmed.
Additionally, two other individuals sustained injuries in the incident and were rushed to the hospital. Their names and identities are yet to be determined by the police.
According to local witnesses, the four young men were making a TikTok video while the train was passing over the Gangasagar Bridge. At that moment, they came into contact with an overhead wire, causing them to be thrown off the train and fall under the bridge. Abdul Kaiyum died on the spot, while Tarek succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Jasim Uddin Khandaker, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akhaura Railway Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating, "Four friends were traveling on the roof of the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train from Chattogram. Eyewitnesses reported that they were making a TikTok video when they lost balance and fell, resulting in casualties. The families of the deceased have been informed, and legal proceedings are underway."
