BASIS to Announce Election Roadmap After Eid

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is set to announce its election roadmap after Eid, following necessary organizational reforms. This was stated by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, during an Iftar gathering with BASIS members at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday.
Taiyeb urged general members to cooperate with the government-appointed administrator in implementing the reforms. "I hope that after updating the organizational framework and voter list, the election roadmap will be announced right after Eid. BASIS will then begin functioning as a professional trade body under an elected committee. To achieve this, all members, sub-committees, and support committees must provide full assistance to the administrator. This will pave the way for the diversification of Bangladesh's export-oriented sectors, opening new horizons for BASIS," he stated. He also mentioned that consultations with BASIS committees would be held after Eid to update relevant policies.
The Iftar event was presided over by Dr. Muhammad Mehedi Hasan, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Computer Council and BASIS Administrator. Among the key speakers were Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, and Executive Director of the ICT Directorate Mohammad Anwar Uddin.
ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury announced that the BASIS Executive Committee election is scheduled for July, with an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) planned for May to finalize the organizational reforms.
The event was moderated by Md. Imrul Kayes Parag, Managing Director of Touch & Solve Technologies Ltd. Other notable attendees included Md. Enayetur Rahman, Managing Director of Ulkasemi Private Ltd.; Rafel Kabir, Managing Director of DNS Software Ltd.; Fauzia Nigar Sultana, Managing Director of Infoban Realm IT Solutions; Jasim Uddin Nizami, CEO of Dream Tech; and Md. Rowshan Kamal, Managing Director of TechSol Technologies Ltd.
