BRACnet Boosts Broadband in Universities
BRACnet Limited will establish modern digital network infrastructure across the country’s public universities. The initiative will cover 27 institutions, including Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Islamic University (IU), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Rangamati Science and Technology University (RmSTU), and Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU), providing advanced digital network systems and cloud-based Wi-Fi facilities.
The project will be implemented under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) initiative. According to officials, more than 60,000 students, faculty members, and researchers will gain access to high-speed internet services through this program.
A memorandum of understanding for the project, titled “Installation of Modern Network Equipment and Wi-Fi Infrastructure in Public Universities,” was signed on Wednesday, August 20, at BRACnet’s Mohakhali office. The agreement was executed with the involvement of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Ministry of Education, and BRACnet Limited.
Project Director Professor Dr. Asaduzzaman stated, “Once implemented, this agreement will enable faculty and students in public universities to align their research and learning with global standards, thereby maintaining the country’s academic excellence. I am confident that BRACnet, as an ICT institution, will complete its work with the highest professionalism.”
BRACnet Limited’s General Manager, Md. Mukarram Hossain, said, “BRACnet has long worked tirelessly to enhance technological capabilities in Bangladesh’s education sector.
