The government is moving forward with a new roadmap to make the healthcare services of the country modern, integrated, and technology-driven by introducing artificial intelligence (AI), e-health cards, and digital prescriptions. Efforts are underway to implement a digital roadmap for the radical reform of the health system alongside strengthening primary healthcare. The e-health card is now on the verge of implementation.

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit made these remarks as the chief guest at a seminar organized in the conference room of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) in the capital.

Dr. M A Muhit stated, "The government is working on long-term plans to restructure the healthcare system of the country. Among these, strengthening primary healthcare, ensuring the use of digital technology at every stage of healthcare, and integrating artificial intelligence into medical services are receiving special emphasis. This transformation of the health sector is not a sudden decision. This plan has been formulated through a participatory process over the last one and a half to two years, taking inputs from health experts within and outside the country. These initiatives are also reflected in the election manifesto of the government and the policy paper titled 'Suswasthyer Bangladesh'." Noting that the nature of healthcare is changing rapidly due to swift technological progress, he added, "To ensure quality healthcare for all, integrated initiatives of government institutions, private development organizations, and academic research institutions are required." Director General of the Health Economics Unit (Additional Secretary) Dr. Mohammad Enamul Haque, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr. Foara Tasmim, along with officials and experts from various levels of the health sector, were present at the seminar.
