YouTube Ad Revenue Reaches $10 Billion!

YouTube, maintaining its stronghold in the streaming arena, recorded a 13% year-over-year growth in advertising revenue for the second quarter, according to parent company Alphabet’s earnings report released Wednesday. The platform's ad revenue reached $9.8 billion, up from $8.7 billion in the same period last year, as reported by TechCrunch.

This performance slightly exceeded analysts’ expectations, which had forecasted around $9.6 billion in revenue.

Over the past few years, YouTube has been steadily fortifying its position in the television advertising market. According to Nielsen, YouTube has remained the most-watched streaming platform for three consecutive months, with viewers spending 12.4% of their streaming time on the platform.

In response to YouTube’s growing dominance, competitors such as HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix have intensified their advertising strategies. Notably, Netflix announced plans to double its ad revenue this year. While the company did not disclose specific figures, an analyst from Madison and Wall estimated that Netflix’s advertising income is approaching $3 billion.

Meanwhile, Alphabet’s total revenue for the second quarter stood at $96.4 billion, reflecting a 13% increase from the previous year.
