Science Festival Sparks Student Spirit in Chattogram and Barishal
Following regional festivals in Dhaka, Rangpur, and Rajshahi, a vibrant science festival was organized in Chattogram and Barishal with the participation of nearly 1,200 students from 90 schools. The event showcased students’ innovative and research-based projects, along with quiz competitions, science-focused discussions, and interactive question-and-answer sessions, creating a festive atmosphere of scientific engagement.
Hosted at Ispahani Public School and College in Chattogram and BM School in Barishal, the festival featured around 100 student projects from both divisions. Nineteen of the most innovative projects were awarded for excellence. Additionally, 42 winners from two categories of quiz competitions across the two divisions received prizes.
Distinguished guests at the Chattogram festival included Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfor Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University; Ahmed Shaheen Alraji, Acting Principal of Ispahani Public School and College; and Dr. A.K.M. Mainul Hoque Miyaji, Professor of Physics at Asian University for Women.
At the Barishal festival, notable attendees included Md. Momin Hawlader, Head Teacher of BM School; Dr. Hena Rani Biswas, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Barishal University; and Md. Khorshed Alam, Associate Professor of Physics at Barishal University. Both divisions also welcomed Saima Ahsan, Vice-President of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at bKash, and Abul Basar, Executive Editor of Biggan Chinta, among others.
Adding extra charm to the event were science-themed stalls, demonstrations of science-based magic, lectures by authors, mathematicians, botanists, doctors, and science speakers, along with student interactions, cultural performances, and the prize distribution ceremony.
To further promote science among school students across the country, bKash and Biggan Chinta plan to host a national-level grand science festival in Dhaka, where winners from divisional rounds of projects and quizzes will compete. Top participants from across the nation will be recognized and awarded in the final round.
