Huawei Heralds Tech Megatrends in Intelligent World 2035 and Global Digitalization Index Reports

Global telecom giant Huawei has unveiled two white papers—“Intelligent World 2035 Report” and “Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2025 Report.” The reports outline key megatrends expected to reshape the world over the next decade, highlighting the transformative role of technology across sectors such as education, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and energy.
In a press release issued in Bangladesh on Tuesday, September 23, Huawei stated that its Executive Director of the Board, David Wang, remarked, “Every advance in civilization has come from technological exploration. The drive to explore is a fundamental human trait. It inspires us to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology. Today, that very drive is leading us toward a more intelligent world. Generative AI is opening doors of possibility we could never have imagined before. That is why we must look to the future and foster new scientific perspectives and ideas.”
Over the past two years, Huawei’s research team organized more than 200 workshops globally and engaged in in-depth discussions with over 100 experts, academics, customers, and partners. Based on these insights, the Intelligent World 2035 Report was developed, drawing on trusted sources such as the United Nations and the World Economic Forum. The report identifies ten megatrends Huawei believes will drive intellectual transformation in the coming decade.
Among these megatrends, Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is described as the primary driving force behind unprecedented technological progress, while large AI models are expected to transform AI agents from simple task performers into decision-making partners, revolutionizing industries. Other trends include breakthroughs in Human-AI programming, multimodal human-computer interaction, AI-driven traffic systems, exponential increases in computing power, AI-led data storage expansion, the shift from mobile internet to “agentic internet,” and the rising energy demands of global data centers that will push renewable energy adoption to 50 percent of the global energy mix by 2035.
The Intelligent World 2035 Report further envisions how AI will influence daily life, businesses, and the environment by 2035. It suggests that AI-enabled preventive measures could help avert over 80 percent of chronic diseases, while more than 90 percent of Chinese households will have intelligent robots.
In parallel, Huawei collaborated with economists, sociologists, and ICT specialists to redefine the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index (GDII). The updated index incorporates new economic factors to better measure ICT sector performance worldwide and to provide clearer insights into how nations can leverage the digital economy to benefit from AI.
