Prof. Saifuddin, the first VC of BSMRSTU, Pirojpur

Professor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University of Pirojpur. In a notification of Science and Technology University Branch of Secondary and Higher Education Department, the appointment has been confirmed. Under the order of the President, the notification signed by Mosammat Rokksana Begum, Deputy Secretary informed on Sunday (September 18) that the term of appointment of the Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining. Professor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin is currently teaching in the Department of Psychology at Jagannath University. It is known that on October 10, 2019, the Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Education to take necessary measures in this regard after approving the university. Following the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Ministry wrote to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission- UGC on October 27, 2019 to draft the Science and Technology University Act. UGC sent the draft law to the Ministry of Education on March 23, 2020. On July 16, 2020, a letter was sent to the Ministry of Science and Technology to give its opinion on the draft law. On November 29, 2020, a letter was sent from the Ministry of Education to the Cabinet Division for scrutiny of the draft law. On December 16, 2020, the Cabinet Division examined the draft and sent it back. Later, on September 5, 2021, the Ministry of Finance wrote to the Ministry of Education to raise the draft in Parliament with the recommendation of His Excellency the President after necessary verification. Later, the Law Ministry voted. The Prime Minister and His Excellency the President signed and approved the introduction of the Bill in Parliament. When the bill was introduced on 18 November 2021, it was approved to be sent to the Standing Committee of Parliament. Education Minister Dr. Deepu Moni raised it in Parliament on March 29 this year to pass the bill in the form of 'law' and eventually, it was passed. In this continuation, a site was determined for the construction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University on the site of Nazirpur-Gopalganj highway in Kadamtala area of ​​Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. In this regard, Fisheries and Livestock Minister S. M. Rezaul Karim said, after I was elected as a Member of Parliament for Pirojpur-1 Constituency, I submitted a written request to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in July 2019 to establish a Science and Technology University in Pirojpur after the name of the Father of the Nation. We are getting the benefit of that initiative now.
