MFS Transactions: Highest in Rangpur and lowest in Sylhet Division
Mobile financial services (MFS) like bKash, Nagad, Rocket and Upay are more transacted in the country by the people of Rangpur and least used by people of Sylhet division. On the other hand, rural people are more accustomed to mobile banking than urban people. About 2 crore 92 lakh men and women of the villages use this service. And in the city, only 1 crore 68 lakh people use this service. About 43 percent of Rangpur and about 30 percent of adults in Rangpur use mobile financial services categorically.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released this information in the final report of Census and Household Census 2022.
According to BBS report, 54 lakh 80 thousand 373 men and women of Rangpur take mobile banking facility, which is 43 percent of the total population of Rangpur division. On the other hand, people from Sylhet division do the least amount of transactions. 22 lakh 36 thousand 936 men and women take this benefit, which is about 30 percent of the total population of Sylhet.
As reported by the BBS, Dhaka has the second highest MFS usage category-wise. 1 crore 34 lakh 8 thousand 957 people of the districts of Dhaka division transact money through MFS facilities. That is, 41 and a half percent of the total population of Dhaka; 41 percent in Khulna and Barisal, 39 percent in Rajshahi, 35 percent in Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions transact through mobile banking.
The BBS provides data on men and women aged 15 and over, who have had at least one transaction in the 12 months preceding the census. According to the organization's calculations, in all, 4 crore 61 lakh 14 thousand 668 people across the country make financial transactions through mobile financial service providers. In this service, twice as many customers are men than women. The number of male subscribers is three crore.
