DB Police Arrested a Youth for Spreading Fake Phone Conversation Involving President
A young man named Nafis Fuad Ishan (22) has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) for allegedly fabricating and circulating a false phone conversation between President Md. Shahabuddin and Brigadier General (Retd.) Sakhawat Hossain, advisor to the Ministry of Jute, Textiles, and Shipping.
Ishan was detained on Sunday, October 27, during a raid in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area. According to Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division at DMP, Nafis manipulated parts of an interview originally aired on Citizen TV’s YouTube channel on August 16, which featured the interim government’s then-advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Sakhawat Hossain. Ishan used this content to create a fabricated phone conversation involving the President, which he uploaded to his YouTube channel, "Quality TV," on October 24.
During initial questioning, Ishan revealed that he administers the online YouTube channel “Quality TV” and also manages a Facebook page named "Kes TV." DC Talebur Rahman reported that Ishan had been creating and posting false and misleading content involving key national figures through his platforms, allegedly with the intent to cause public confusion.
Legal proceedings are currently underway against the arrested individual, as stated by the DMP official.
