Smart Postal Service started from Koira
The Goodwill Ambassador of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Princess Victoria of Sweden inaugurated the smart postal service in Bangladesh by inaugurating the 'Smart Post Center' in Koira, one of the industrial cities of Khulna. As a result, from now on more than 325 e-government services along with regular postal services will be available from this smart post center.
She inaugurated this center on Tuesday along with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. Tarun Kanti Sikder, Director General of Postal Directorate and Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of A2I were present at the time.

The Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology presented a book titled Mujib o Muktijudda and a Bangabandhu memorial stamp poster to the Princess of Sweden. The guests interacted with the local service users and visited the Koira Smart Post Center activities.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak while talking to the journalists after the inauguration of Smart Post Center at Koira said, “Initially we have started the work of converting 5 post offices into smart postal centers on an experimental basis. Smart Post Centre, Koira is the first journey of this initiative. We will soon implement 500 more Smart Postal Centers in continuation of this. Through this, people from remote villages can easily receive all e-government services including banking, agent banking services from this smart post service point; Along with economic inclusion, it will play an immeasurable role in eliminating digital inequality in the country. This service point will revolutionize accessibility and efficiency in rural areas of Bangladesh while also hosting facilities like parcel tracking, bill payment and e-commerce facilities.
The Smart Service Point (SSP) initiative is a concerted effort to integrate digital solutions with traditional postal services. Through this effort, it will be possible to deliver products through various hubs centered around 10,000 post offices in the country.
