Rescued from forced confinement inside illegal cyber scam centers in Cambodia, thirty Bangladeshi workers previously held in a Cambodian immigration detention facility are finally returning home.

According to sources from the Wage Earners' Welfare Board under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment on Monday (October 19, 2026), the workers are scheduled to land at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday (October 20, 2026) at 12:10 PM aboard a Thai Airways flight (TG-321).

Official sources state that following an application by the 'Anirban Survivor Voice Foundation', the Labor Wing of the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok initiated diplomatic procedures. A formal letter signed by Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Deputy Director (IRP) of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, directed the swift execution of legal protocols to secure the release and repatriation of the detained nationals.

Families of the victims revealed that an international trafficking syndicate lured these youths to Cambodia with promises of lucrative tech jobs. Upon arrival, they were forcibly detained inside high-tech cyber scam hubs and compelled to execute fraudulent online operations and phishing scams, facing severe physical and psychological abuse whenever they resisted or attempted to escape.

When attempting to exit Cambodia through Phnom Penh International Airport on September 3 following local regulations, immigration police arrested 32 Bangladeshis on charges of visa overstay. While two individuals were released earlier, the remaining 30 workers had been held in detention until diplomatic efforts cleared their release.
