In a startling disclosure regarding border security vulnerabilities, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Engr. ishraque Hossain claimed that drones are being utilized across border fences to transport illegal drugs into Bangladesh.

Addressing a press conference on Monday (October 19, 2026) at the National Press Club in Dhaka, ishraque revealed this information prior to stepping down from his ministerial position. Clarifying his use of a licensed firearm for personal safety, he vowed to continue a social crusade against illicit drug supply chains at any personal cost.

"To prevent our youth from being permanently crippled and to protect the nation's future, organized international networks are flooding the country with narcotics," ishraque stated. He added, "Dominant regional forces are leveraging drone technology to drop drug consignments over fenced border lines into Bangladesh."

Responding to queries regarding his direct involvement in law enforcement activities, he noted that law enforcement agencies had not fully normalized operations post-July uprising, prompting him as an elected representative of Dhaka-6 to step in.

The press conference follows a viral video showing ishraque brandishing a firearm alongside armed companions during an anti-drug drive in Gendaria last Saturday. According to relevant government sources, the Prime Minister summoned ishraque to the Secretariat following a cabinet meeting the next afternoon and directed him to submit his resignation.
