For the first time in the developing world, India has organized a large-scale global conference on artificial intelligence. The summit, which began in the capital New Delhi, is drawing chief executives of the world’s leading technology companies as well as heads of state from various countries, Reuters reports.

Through this initiative, the Government of India aims to attract greater investment in the artificial intelligence sector and to amplify the voice of developing nations in global AI policymaking.

Among the keynote speakers at the conference are Sundar Pichai, Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Mukesh Ambani. The event is also being attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.

While the growing adoption of artificial intelligence has raised concerns about its potential impact on employment, India is positioning large-scale technological implementation as a strategic pathway to progress. Despite fears of job displacement, the country appears committed to leveraging AI to accelerate development and strengthen its role in shaping the future of global technology governance.
