Totall 13 engineers and forty-seven doctors participated in the 13th national parliamentary election from various political parties. Of these, seven engineers and fourteen doctors are going to parliament this time. On Tuesday, February 17th, the Chief Election Commissioner, A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, will administer the oath to the newly elected Members of Parliament at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. In the afternoon, President Md. Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the cabinet members nominated from among the Members of Parliament.

In the morning, six of the eight engineers nominated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the only engineer who participated from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will be sworn in as Members of Parliament. The engineers elected from BNP are: Ishraque Hossain, who won in Dhaka-6 constituency; Shama Obaed Islam, who won in Faridpur-2 constituency; Moinul Islam Khan Shanto, who won in Manikganj-2 constituency; Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency; Ashraf Uddin Bakul, from Narsingdi-5 constituency; and Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury, who won in Sherpur-2 constituency.

On the other hand, Enamul Haque, who won in Naogaon-2 (Dhamoirhat and Patnitola) constituency, is the only engineer from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami going to parliament. The only engineer candidate from NCP, an ally of Jamaat, did not win in Dhaka-20 constituency. Similarly, two engineer candidates from Islami Andolan Bangladesh and one engineer candidate who contested as an independent also failed to win.

Meanwhile, although a maximum of twenty doctors were nominated in the thirteenth national parliamentary election, only four were able to win with the 'scales' symbol. The winners include the party's Amir, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman (Dhaka-15); Naib-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher (Cumilla-11); renowned paediatric cardiologist and intensive care (ICU) specialist Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid (Jashore-2, Chougachha-Jhikargachha); and Dr. Abdul Bari (Rajshahi-4, Bagmara). Besides them, none of the others who contested from other parties or as independent candidates could secure a victory.

In contrast, while 13 doctors were nominated for the election, 10 doctors won representing the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol. The winners are: Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain (Dinajpur 6), Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu (Gazipur 3), Dr. Anwarul Haq (Netrokona 2), Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Liton (Mymensingh 7), Dr. KM Babar (Gopalganj 2), Dr. Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin (Dhaka 19 Savar), Dr. Sakhawat Hossain Jibon (Habiganj 2), Dr. Ikramul Bari Tipu (Naogaon 4), Dr. M.A. Muhit (Sirajganj-6 (Shahjadpur)), and Dr. Abdus Salam (Thakurgaon-2 (Balia Dangi, Haripur and part of Ranisankail Upazila)).
