EGCB Embraces Huawei’s IaaS for Digital Disaster Management

Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) has opted to use Huawei’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) to strengthen its digital transformation, especially in the area of disaster recovery. Huawei’s local partner, Omega Exim Limited, will support the implementation by managing cloud-based disaster recovery systems, project management, staff training, system maintenance, and regulatory compliance.

An official agreement was signed this week at Huawei Bangladesh’s headquarters between EGCB and Omega Exim Limited. The agreement was signed by Mohammad Rasheduzzaman Khan, Superintending Engineer and Head of ICT at EGCB, and Abdullah Al Maksud Baig, Director of Omega Exim Limited. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from EGCB, Huawei, and Omega Exim.

Under the agreement, EGCB’s Disaster Recovery (DR) site will be hosted on Huawei’s IaaS platform for an initial period of two years. The platform is designed to be secure and scalable, offering data backup, replication, regular recovery testing, and rapid restoration in case of disruptions. This solution is expected to enhance EGCB’s operational management while supporting adherence to regulatory standards.
