Bangladesh AI and Robotics Olympiad Teams Honored in Grand Reception

The Bangladeshi teams that participated in the first-ever International Artificial Intelligence (AI) Olympiad held in Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia in August-September last year, the 21st World Robot Olympiad in Turkey in November, and the upcoming 26th International Robot Olympiad in South Korea in January 2025, were formally welcomed and honored with flowers at a reception ceremony. The event took place on Tuesday at Daffodil Plaza’s 71 Auditorium in Dhaka, where participants were presented with honorary crests in recognition of their achievements.
The event was organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN), the host of the Bangladesh chapters of these Olympiads, in collaboration with Daffodil International University.
Distinguished guests at the event included Mamluk Sabir Ahmed, Managing Director of Computer Services Limited; Architect Hasnawn Sabih, Country Director of Volunteer Association for Bangladesh; Mohiuddin Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association; Khandaker Khalid Hasan, Deputy Managing Director of eGeneration; Ahnaf Hossain Rafi, Head of AI at Intelligent Machines; and Khandaker Shahid Imam, Director of Texcotech, among others, who extended their congratulations to the winners.
The ceremony commenced with a speech by Professor B.M. Moinul Hossain, Director of the Institute of Information Technology at the University of Dhaka, who highlighted the achievements of this year's Olympiads and extended his best wishes to the participants.
The event was also attended by Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman, Group CEO of Daffodil Family, and Munir Hasan, President of BDOSN, alongside other notable figures. Professor Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Vice President of BDOSN and faculty at the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Dhaka, emphasized that hosting these Olympiads in Bangladesh allows students to showcase their skills on an international stage.
During the event, several participants shared their experiences from the international Olympiads. Among them were Sadia Anjum Pushpo from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Arefin Anwar from St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and College, and Arietti Islam from Monipur High School and College. Additionally, Nasitat Zainah Rahman, Abrar Shahid, and Iqbal Samin Prithul shared insights into their research publications at the international level.
BDOSN continues to play a crucial role in organizing the Bangladesh chapters of the AI Olympiad, World Robot Olympiad, and International Robot Olympiad, selecting teams for international competitions, providing regular training, and ensuring Bangladeshi representation at global Olympiads.
