Accenture, the globally renowned IT and digital consulting firm, is moving to sell its business operations in China. Citing an exclusive report by the Financial Times, Reuters has reported that the company is considering selling its Chinese operations for up to $1.5 billion.

The company is moving towards this decision after receiving unexpected expressions of interest from various clients and investors seeking to acquire the regional business over the past year.

Strategic Review and JPMorgan's Role

Accenture has appointed JPMorgan, an international banking and financial services institution, to conduct a strategic review of its business in China.

The potential sale is expected to attract interest primarily from private equity groups and a limited number of strategic buyers.

Even if the deal is finalised, Accenture may retain a significant minority stake in the business.

Notably, Accenture's operations in the Greater China region extend beyond mainland China to include Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Economic Conditions and Future Outlook

Despite recent global economic uncertainty and strategic restructuring, Accenture recently forecast annual revenue growth of 3% to 6% for fiscal year 2027. The projection was slightly higher than market analysts' expectations.

However, neither Accenture nor JPMorgan has issued an official comment on the reported process of divesting the company's China operations.
