- Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milan addresses delegates from over 100 nations at UNESCO-backed summit
- National strategy links curricula with artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and green jobs
- Bilateral talks propose establishment of Bangladesh-China Joint Technical University
Articulating a comprehensive national blueprint to integrate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and green transitions, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan addressed the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference 2026. The minister delivered Bangladesh’s national policy statement during the high-level opening session on Friday, 16 October 2026, at the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin, China.
Anchored to the global theme "TVET: Co-Embracing Change, Co-Forging Standards, Co-Creating Future," the apex assembly convened education ministers from over 40 nations, high-level delegations representing more than 100 countries, multilateral representatives from UNESCO, enterprise industry leaders, and vocational researchers. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng, Vice Premier of the State Council Ding Xuexiang, Mayor of Tianjin Zhang Gong, and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Delivering the keynote address for Bangladesh, Dr. Milan highlighted that demographic dividends and human capital form the bedrock of the country's economic resilience. Characterizing TVET as an indispensable bridge linking classroom theory with real-world industry demands, he observed that conventional academic credentials alone cannot address the disruptions fueled by automation and intelligent computing. He emphasized that Bangladesh is building a responsive vocational ecosystem where dynamic national curricula, continuous teacher reskilling, and empirical apprenticeship frameworks translate directly into institutional employment and entrepreneurship.
On the sidelines of the summit, the education minister held a strategic bilateral meeting with China’s Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun. The discussions centered on upgrading technical laboratories across Bangladesh, initiating joint certification curricula, expanding Chinese government scholarships for technical scholars, and advancing a blueprint to establish a state-of-the-art "Bangladesh-China Joint Technical and Technology University." Both sides reaffirmed commitments made during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s official visit to China in June 2026, agreeing to accelerate administrative milestones to operationalize these priority bilateral education pacts, official sources confirmed.
