15 Smartphones Seized at Shah Amanat Airport
Total 15 smartphones were seized from a passenger's baggage arriving on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dubai at the customs hall of Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram. The seized phones include five iPhones and ten Google Pixel phones.
Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, stated that the passenger is a resident of West Farhadabad in Fatikchhari, Chattogram.
He added that the seized mobile phones and cigarette consignment were confiscated under a Departmental Memorandum (DM) and will be kept in the custody of Chattogram Customs House. Revenue of 450,000 Taka will be collected from the recovered mobile phones, and 440,000 Taka from the cigarettes. The detained passenger was verbally warned and released by Airport NSI (National Security Intelligence) and Customs.
The items were found in the baggage of Mohammad Hossain Zahed Habib, a passenger on flight BG 148, at approximately 9:45 AM on Saturday, February 21st. The matter was detected during a joint operation by Airport NSI, Customs Intelligence, and the Airport Customs branch.
