A seminar titled “Empowering Youth” was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) with the support of the GAU Career Club. The event was organized under the initiative of Prime Bank PLC’s flagship platform ‘PrimeAcademia’. The keynote paper was presented by Shaila Abedin, SEVP and Head of Liability at Prime Bank.
In her address, Shaila Abedin highlighted the importance of financial discipline, continuous self-development, ethical leadership, and women’s empowerment. Addressing young participants in particular, she encouraged them to achieve financial independence through informed financial decision-making and the effective use of digital financial services.
The event’s other keynote speaker, M M Mahbub Hasan, SVP and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking at Prime Bank, said that financial inclusion goes beyond merely opening a bank account. Rather, it is an integrated process aimed at expanding opportunities, reducing inequality, and ensuring sustainable economic participation.
He also provided practical guidance on e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer), digital onboarding, and preparing young people to take leadership roles in a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem.
Among others present at the event were Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan, PhD, Director of Student Welfare at the university, and Professor Dr. Jiban Chandra Das.
