bKash Boosts Workers’ Welfare with BDT 2.39 Crore Contribution
bKash Limited has contributed BDT 2,39,06,559 to the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Foundation. The cheque was handed over to Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Shipping.
On Thursday, October 9, at the office of the Labour and Employment Adviser, the Executive Vice President of bKash presented the cheque, amounting to 0.5 percent of the company’s annual profit, in accordance with the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 (amended in 2018).
Expressing his appreciation to the company’s representatives, the adviser said, “The fund contributed to the Workers’ Welfare Foundation will play a vital role in the socio-economic development of workers in both formal and informal sectors. It will be used to support distressed and deceased workers’ families, provide scholarships for students, and offer emergency medical assistance.”
Senior officials from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, representatives from the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Foundation, and officials from bKash were present during the cheque handover ceremony.
