NBR Narrows the Gap: Nationwide E-Return Help Desks for Taxpayers
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched E-Return Help Desks across all tax regions in the country to assist taxpayers in submitting their income tax returns online. With this initiative, taxpayers can now easily complete and file their returns via the NBR website and even submit written complaints through the E-Tax Service option for prompt resolution.
To further enhance accessibility, the NBR announced that E-Return Help Desks have been set up in every tax zone nationwide. Taxpayers can receive necessary assistance either by visiting their respective tax offices in person or by contacting the designated phone numbers.
NBR’s Public Relations Officer, Md. Al Amin Sheikh, stated in a press release on Thursday, October 9, that the online E-Return filing service for the 2025–26 tax year was inaugurated on August 4 by Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to NBR data, approximately 2.92 million taxpayers have registered with the E-Return system so far, while 635,000 taxpayers have successfully filed their returns online. Those unable to file online due to registration-related issues may submit a paper return by October 31, upon approval from an Additional or Joint Tax Commissioner, provided they submit a written application citing valid reasons to the respective Deputy Tax Commissioner.
To simplify the E-Return process for taxpayers, NBR has also arranged online training sessions this year. Interested individuals may register through the provided link, and training schedules will be shared via email. So far, nearly 15,000 taxpayers have completed the training.
In addition, NBR has established a dedicated call center (09643 71 71 71) for immediate assistance with any E-Return-related issues. Taxpayers can call directly to receive guidance and instant solutions from the support team.
