Research Seminar and Awards Ceremony Held at CUET
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) hosted a Research Seminar, Project Award, and Appreciation Program on Thursday, September 11, at the university’s central auditorium. The event was organized by the Directorate of Research and Extension.
As part of the program, 47 project proposals for the 2025–26 fiscal year were recognized. In addition, 27 faculty members who had successfully completed research projects in the previous fiscal year were honored, and four awards were presented for outstanding research publications.
The keynote address at the seminar was delivered by Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman, Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of the Directorate of Research and Extension. It was conducted by Professor Dr. Md. Sanaul Rabbi, Additional Director of CUET’s IQAC and faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department, along with Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director (Public Relations).
Speaking as Chief Guest, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya emphasized the indispensable role of research in the pursuit of new knowledge. He remarked, “Research requires significant time and effort, as it is both labor-intensive and challenging. To reap the benefits of research, one must work tirelessly, day after day. No great discovery is ever made suddenly or without effort. Behind every breakthrough lies years of perseverance, dedication, and sacrifice.”
He further stressed the importance of creativity and imagination in research, noting, “A researcher must possess both imaginative and creative faculties to write a proper research report. Above all, researchers should work selflessly for the greater good of society and the nation.”
Highlighting the broader value of research, Professor Bhuiya added, “Economic, social, and political problems require consistent and purposeful research to reach effective solutions. When conducted by experienced, trained, and skilled researchers, studies can yield the desired results.”
Special guests at the event included Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Professor Dr. Asiful Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Professor Dr. A.H. Rashedul Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning.
