Dutch location technology company TomTom has announced that it will lay off 300 employees as part of a shift toward a new product-centric strategy that prioritizes the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), according to Reuters.

In a statement released on Monday, the company explained that the decision primarily affects staff in the application layer, sales, and support units. “The move is aimed at creating more efficient and innovative solutions by leveraging AI-based services and technologies,” the company said.

TomTom stated that the restructuring will help better meet customer demands while strengthening its position in an increasingly competitive market.

Known as one of the world’s leading providers of navigation and mapping solutions, TomTom expects this transformation to enhance its effectiveness in adapting to future technological landscapes.
