Japanese brand Citizen has officially launched its POS printer line in the Bangladeshi market. The newly introduced models are the Citizen CT-D150 POS printer and the Citizen CLE-321 label printer.

On Tuesday, June 23, Smart Technologies Limited, a local distributor representing over 100 global tech brands in its 30-year journey, unveiled the packaging of these devices—one POS and one label printer at the Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon, Dhaka.

At the Media launch event, Yohei Koyama, Sales Director for Citizen Systems Japan, reminisced about the iconic Citizen watches before highlighting the brand’s latest venture into printer solutions. “After venturing into thermometers and healthcare technology, we are now bringing our printer solutions,” he said. He further added that Citizen’s journey into the printing industry began back in the 1960s with typographic printers. Today, the company offers a lineup that includes five types of label printers.

In response to a question, Koayama clarified, “There are no health risks associated with these devices.”

Speaking at the event, Smart Technologies’ Channel Director Muzahid Al Beruni Suzon emphasized the durability of the printer’s thermal ink. “The print will not fade within two days. Users can preserve the output for later use,” he noted. “We are sensing a refreshing breeze in the country’s tech market as it rebounds from stagnation. Good times are ahead.”

Among others present at the launch were Satoru Higuchi, Technical Support Section Manager of Citizen Japan; Abu Solaiman Polash, Asst. General Manager of Citizen Printing Business in Bangladesh; and Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, Head of Media & Communications.
