Robi is going to appoint a foreign CEO

Mahtab Uddin Ahmed served quite successfully as the first Bangladeshi Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the country's second top mobile phone operator Robi Axiata Limited for 5 years. After he stepped down, again a foreign CEO is joining the Robi. Rajeev Shethi will be the new CEO of Robi next month.  Mr. Shethi joined Grameenphone as CEO in December 2014 and served for over 2 years. Prior to joining Robi, Mr. Shethi had been serving as the CEO of Ooredoo, a multinational telecommunications company in Myanmar based in Qatar. In the meantime, he has taken the work permit from Bangladesh Investment Development Authority- BIDA. Several concerned officials have confirmed his joining as CEO at Robi. However, when asked about this appointment from Robi, they did not like to convey any comment. It is to be noted that, in May 2019, Rajeev Shethi joined Ooredoo as CEO in Myanmar. He then joined Airtel Africa as Chief Commercial Officer in January 2017. This man from Bangalore, India served there for 2 years and 5 months. He is an MBA in Marketing, Finance and Operations from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. Rajeev Sethi has worked in organizations such as Uninor, Vodafone, HP, Hutchison Telecom and Asian Paints.
