Italy Tests Starlink to Expand Internet Access in Remote Regions
Italy is conducting tests to launch Starlink, the satellite company owned by Elon Musk, as part of an initiative to expand internet access in remote regions, according to government officials. This was reported by Reuters.
Alessio Butti, Undersecretary at the Italian Prime Minister's Office, stated that discussions have already taken place with some regional administrations regarding the Starlink project.
He mentioned, "We are testing Starlink, along with other companies, to provide satellite internet services in remote areas." The tests are primarily being conducted in select regions of northern, central, and southern Italy.
It is worth noting that Starlink is already informally providing satellite internet services in Italy, with over 50,000 customers, according to a source familiar with the matter.
