Banglalink has stopped its 3G services
The three private telecom operators started the process of closing down the 3G sites (towers) with the approval from the Telecom Regulatory Authority-BTRC last year. As part of that process, operators are shutting down 3G, a third-generation telecom service. The top operator Grameenphone announced the closure of this network in July last year. After 3 months from then, it was said to stop this service in 35 districts. However, Robi was the first to apply for the termination of 3G services in BTRC.
But first of all, Banglalink, as the first mobile network operator in the country, has stopped the 3G service nationwide from May 5. This strategic move is a reflection of Banglalink's unwavering commitment to ensure 'the best 4G network for all', said a press release on Tuesday. As a customer-centric operator, Banglalink has prioritized investments in consistently improving 4G services and phasing out 3G services from 2021.
Banglalink CEO Erik Aas said, “As a digital operator, our aim is to provide seamless connectivity and innovative services to our customers. By increasing the spectrum and other resources allocated for 4G, we will take the customer experience to new heights. As a leader in this successful transformation, we are committed to accelerating Banglalink's dedicated journey towards a 'Smart Bangladesh' by enhancing our customers' 4G experience in combination with high-speed and modern infrastructure and, above all, cutting-edge digital services.”
