BTRC Marks 24th Anniversary with Sports and Cultural Festivities

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) celebrated its 24th founding anniversary in a different and homely atmosphere through sports and cultural programmes. The day-long celebrations began with a cake-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31, at the open rooftop garden on the third floor of the BTRC building in Agargaon, Dhaka.

BTRC Chairman Md Emdad Ul Bari cut the anniversary cake along with Vice President Md Abu Bakar Siddique. Commissioners Mahmud Hossain, Brigadier General Iqbal Ahmed, and Abdur Rahman Sardar were also present on the occasion.

Among others, Director General (Administration) Md Mehedi-ul-Shahid; Director General (Systems and Services) Brigadier General Shahzad Parvez Mahiyuddin; Director General (Spectrum) Brigadier General Md Aminul Haque; Brigadier General Shafiul Azam Parvez from the Engineering and Operations Division; Director of Finance, Accounts and Revenue Sajeda Parvin; and Commission Secretary Mohammad Ruhul Amin were in attendance, alongside officials and staff from various departments.

Around 350 officials and employees of the commission participated in the day-long anniversary programmes.

On the occasion, a series of indoor games were organised for officers and employees, divided into male and female categories. Events for female participants included pillow passing, ball throwing, and a badminton tournament. For male participants, table tennis and carrom tournaments were held.

In the table tennis competition, Senior Assistant Director Ishtiaq Ahmed emerged as champion, while Deputy Director Dr Shamsuzzoha became the runner-up. In the carrom tournament, Joint champions were Assistant Sub-Director Jonayet Hossain and Soumik Hasan, while Senior Assistant Director Abdul Hamid and Engineer Mahmudur Rahman finished as runners-up.

In the afternoon, a cultural programme was held at the conference hall of the commission building. The anniversary celebrations concluded with a raffle draw, where prizes were distributed among 50 winners, bringing the holiday programme to an end.
