The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Dhaka has announced the first-ever national competition on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies titled “VisionX: AI-Powered National Innovation Challenge 2025.”

Registration for the competition began on September 19 and will continue until October 15. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on November 15 at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the University of Dhaka.

According to the organizers, the primary objective of VisionX 2025 is to transform innovative ideas into market-ready solutions through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, mobile cloud, and intelligent systems. The initiative aims to inspire young innovators to engage in research and creativity while developing practical solutions to real-world challenges across society, industry, and communities.

The CSE Department of Dhaka University stated that “VisionX marks a significant step forward in Bangladesh’s journey toward AI research and innovation. Young innovators will not only present their ideas but also contribute to the nation’s tangible progress toward a technology-driven economy.”

The competition will feature two tracks — the Business Idea Track and the Project Showcasing Track. The former will highlight innovative business concepts, while the latter will allow participants to exhibit AI-based projects and prototypes.

The winning team will receive a prize of BDT 100,000 along with a two-day trip to Bangkok. The second-place team will be awarded BDT 80,000 and a two-day trip to Cox’s Bazar, while the third-place team will receive BDT 50,000 and a two-day trip to Cox’s Bazar.

The organizers announced that students from any university or college in Bangladesh, as well as technology innovators under the age of 27, are eligible to participate. Each team may consist of up to three members from different academic disciplines. Bangladeshi students studying abroad may also join, provided that at least one team member is enrolled at an educational institution in Bangladesh.

The organizers expressed hope that VisionX 2025 will build a bridge between students, researchers, and industry innovators. They emphasized that it is “not merely a competition, but a practical collaboration between academia and industry that will open new horizons for Bangladesh’s AI development.”
