CUET Campus Correspondents Convene for Annual Council

The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Journalists' Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, July 28. The event took place at the auditorium of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) and saw the announcement of the new executive committee for the 2024–2025 session.

Aas'hab Labib, CUET correspondent of Daily Kaler Kantho, has been elected as the President, while Saika Shuhada, campus correspondent of The Business Standard, will serve as the General Secretary of the newly formed committee.

The other committee members include Ipsita Jahan Suma (Nagarik Bhabna and Chattolar Khobor) and Mohammad Yasir Afnan Rafin (Daily Azadi) as Vice Presidents. Fahim Reza (Samakal) and Faiyaz Mohammad Kaushik (Rupali Bangladesh) have been selected as Organizing Secretaries. Nafisa Nawar (Chattogram Protidin) has been appointed Office Secretary, Asadullah Al Galib (Amader Shomoy) as Finance Secretary, and Akifa Manjur (Shomoyer Alo) as Publicity and Publication Secretary.

The Executive Members include Tanvir Ahmed (The Daily Campus), Golam Mostafa Tanim (Education Times), Nazifa Tasnim Jifa (Desh Deshantor), and Zareen Tasmin Saba (Bonik Barta).

During the event, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan formally handed over responsibilities to the new committee and presented honors to the outgoing executive committee. Also present at the ceremony were Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering; former CUET Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of the Institute of Energy Technology (IET), Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed; Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, Head of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering; Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam, Director of Student Welfare; Professor Dr. Mukter Hossain, Deputy Director of Student Welfare; and Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, CUET’s Deputy Director (Public Relations).

In addition to the formal handover and honors, special recognitions were awarded during the ceremony. Faiyaz Mohammad Kaushik received the "Feature Writer of the Year" award, Asadullah Al Galib was recognized for the "Best Photo of the Year", and Zareen Tasmin Saba earned the accolade of "Emerging Feature Writer".
