BPO Bangladesh Summit 2025 Set to Spotlight Billion-Dollar Vision
The sixth edition of the country's flagship outsourcing industry event, BPO Summit Bangladesh 2025, is scheduled to take place on June 21 and 22 at the Sena Malancha Convention Centre in Dhaka. Organized under the theme of Innovation Uprising, the summit seeks to shed light on Bangladesh's transformation into a potential global outsourcing hub and aims to propel the BPO sector towards achieving its ambitious goal of $1 billion in annual revenue.
At a press conference held on Thursday (May 22) at the ICT Division's conference room, it was announced that the summit is being organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology under the ICT Division, in partnership with the Business Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce, and the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO). The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is also onboard as a strategic partner.
Notably, the organizers hinted at the possible participation of Alibaba founder Jack Ma as a guest at the event.
"We failed to lay fiber connectivity even after long efforts in places like Dahagram-Angarpota, and could not bring in PayPal despite years of talks. Yet, we brought SpaceX to Bangladesh in record time," said Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division, while addressing the press.
"We are working to ensure the best business environment in the country. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the BPO sector is becoming a vital pillar of the economy and a gateway to employment for the youth," he added.
"I hope the summit will showcase some remarkable achievements."
Mohammad Anwar Uddin, Director General of the ICT Department, emphasized the importance of raising awareness among youth about the diverse opportunities in the IT industry.
"The BPO Summit is a vital platform where youth can explore cutting-edge technologies and receive career guidance. Their innovation, energy, and success are laying a strong foundation for our economy," he said.
Faisal Alim, General Secretary of BACCO, stated, "Freelancers play a vital role in accelerating the country's export earnings through IT products and services. Through summit seminars, we will listen to their challenges and formulate solutions to present to policymakers. BACCO will now work hand-in-hand with the government for the development of freelancers through our Freelancer Forum."
BACCO Joint Secretary Musnad-e-Ahmed announced that over 30 local and international IT/BPO companies will showcase their products and services during the two-day event.
The summit will feature nine seminars and workshops, where notable ITES buyers and international experts will share their insights, helping to elevate the summit to a world-class standard.
Career counseling workshops will introduce students to the potential of the BPO sector and inspire them to pursue careers in it.
As in previous editions, a job fair will be held during the summit to collect CVs from aspiring professionals and facilitate on-the-spot hiring for qualified candidates.
Dedicated seminars will also focus on the challenges, prospects, and success stories of freelancers, who are recognized as an integral part of the outsourcing ecosystem.
"With more than 400 member organizations, BACCO has created over 85,000 jobs and currently contributes $850 million annually," said BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim.
"We are working to create 100,000 sustainable jobs and generate $1 billion in annual revenue by 2025. This summit will play a pivotal role in achieving that goal."
The press event was attended by ICT journalists, technology experts, and leaders from the IT industry. BACCO Executive Committee members present included Vice President Md. Tanzirul Bashar, Treasurer Md. Aminul Haque, Directors Abu Dawood Khan, Abdul Kader, Zayed Uddin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Zulfikar, Saima Shawkat, and Executive Director Lt. Col. (Retd.) Md. Mahtabul Haque, alongside other distinguished BACCO members and ICT stakeholders.
