President calls for technology-based investment
President Abdul Hamid called on the industrialists to come forward to invest in the use of the latest technology.
The head of the state made the call in a video message sent on the occasion of awarding the President's Industrial Development Award 2019 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
The President said that it was not possible for the government alone to provide employment to a large number of people. Therefore, the industrial products manufactured in the country are facing fierce competition in the international trade. Therefore, besides ensuring the quality of the product, we also need to diversify the production. It is necessary to apply multi-faceted ideas in industrial production in tandem with local and international business trends without relying on any particular product or service sector. In such a situation, domestic and foreign investment is needed to create employment.
Planning Minister MA Mannan handed over the prizes to the representatives of 19 industries. Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder spoke in the event while Industry Secretary Zakia Sultana presided over the function.
