The President of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and the Minister for Liberation War Affairs A K M Mozammel Haque said that strict action should be taken against those who are propagandizing against the country by using online platforms.
He commented about the issue after he attended the meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Wednesday (October 19). At that time, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and other members of the committee were present.
In the meeting, the Liberation War Affairs Minister said, 'Cybercrime... there is always propaganda abroad. The way people are trying to be misled by propaganda. Cybercriminals are not always controlled because they live beyond the border. We will look more deeply at how to take action against them, how to identify them, how to take further action.'
Mozammel Haque said, 'We have seen the issue of money laundering from the country recently in the newspapers. They will be investigated. More than 700 money exchange people have been caught so far. Action will be taken against the culprits subject to investigation. In some cases, their license will be cancelled.'
In response to a question, he said, 'The investigation is on, who is smuggling what amount of money, where they have smuggled it. Action will be taken after checking records and investigating. Initially (many) have been caught. After investigation it can be said whether it is small scale or large scale, is there any godfather, or is there any group or it is individualistic.
Database of criminals has been created. It has also been decided to keep constant vigilance on the heinous criminals.
Law enforcement agencies operate raids separately. Asked if there was any plan to bring the forces' investigative work-database under one umbrella, he said, 'Definitely, the work should be coordinated. There are many times when coordination is not done on time. No exchange. In order to work in a more coordinated manner, those in charge have been advised.
