FTC sues Nvidia over ARM acquisition
NVIDIA, a US chip maker, took the initiative to acquire ARM, a British microchip maker. However, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a lawsuit against the acquisition. News Reuters.
The lawsuit, filed last Thursday, alleges that if the two companies merge, they will gain control over the semiconductor sector. This will block the way for competition.
The চার 4 trillion acquisition was set to become the world's largest ever deal in the semiconductor world. In September last year, Nvidia announced the purchase of ARM from the majority stake in Softbank. The deal was expected to be completed within the next year and a half. However, multiple regulators around the world have launched an investigation into the deal.
