Lest August 15 should not repeat: BSMUST Vice-Chancellor

Pirojpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology (BSMUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin said, August 15 is a shameful day in the history of Bangladesh. Bengalis will have to carry the stigma of killing the great architect of freedom, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. Such incidents should not happen again.

He opined so while addressing a discussion meeting on Tuesday on the occasion of National Mourning Day 2023 and the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The discussion meeting was organized by the university at the liaison office in Kazipara of the capital.

Kazi Saifuddin said, the killing of Bangabandhu is an unfortunate event for the Bengali nation. But no one has ever imagined that by whose hands Bangladesh became independent, who gave the country freedom, a flag, will be killed in a brutal manner. The killers did not stop with just killing Bangabandhu. They brutally killed every member of his family, even baby Russell. No religion in the world, no human values ​​can support this killing.

He said, many politicians of the world have been victims of murder. But the brutal incident like Bangabandhu's family has never happened anywhere in the world. Such incidents should not happen again. No party, no leader, no politician should be a victim of such brutal and barbaric murder.

At the beginning of the speech, he remembered all the martyrs of August 15 including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, 4 national leaders, all the martyrs of the great liberation war, persecuted mothers and sisters and all the martyrs of the language movement with deep respect.

The BSMUST Vice-Chancellor said, Bangabandhu never supported killing, hatred, and communalism. We have to move forward by protecting the ideology of Bangabandhu. A strict stance against corruption should be maintained. Bangladesh is developing under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu. We will all work together to build a developed country, smart Bangladesh by protecting the national interest.

University registrar Professor Dr. Alak Kumar Saha presided over the meeting and was moderated by Section Officer Noor Mohammad. The Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts Department Md. Rafiqul Alam, Accountant Ashish Chandra Mallick, Office Assistant cum Computer Typist Achintya Biswas also spoke at the meeting. Apart from them, other officers and employees of the university were present in the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting Registrar Dr. Alak Kumara Saha screened a documentary on Bangabandhu. Later prayers and milad mahfil were held for the salvation of the souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members.

Before this, floral tributes were paid to Bangabandhu's portrait at Dhanmondi number 32. The University Vice Chancellor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin, the registrar of the university, Dr. Alak Kumar Saha, Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts Department Md. Rafiqul Alam and other officers and employees were present at that time.
