On the day of the 12th National Assembly election, a fake video was seen circulating on social media Facebook. In the video, the independent candidate of Gaibandha-1 constituency, Engineer Abdullah Nahid Nigar , was heard saying that she had withdrawn herself from the election. However, a verification by DismissLab showed that the video was created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Online verification and media research platform DismissLab published a report on Sunday.

In the video, it was seen that Nahid Nigar was announcing her decision to withdraw from the election. The caption of the video read, 'I withdraw from the election respecting the decision of the honorable Prime Minister and support Shamim Haider Patwari Bhai. All of you will go to the center in groups and vote for Shamim Haider Patwari Bhai's plow symbol. Everyone has worked hard for me. I am grateful to you.'

But on checking the video, there was contradiction between the lips and the words. The fake video also bore no resemblance to Nahid Nigar's real voice and speech. The image used to create the fake video with artificial intelligence was taken from the candidate's Facebook profile.

Two pages of Naheed Nigar warned about such a fake video being circulated on Facebook. One of her two pages has about 4,000 likes and the other has about 6,500 likes. On both pages, through graphic cards and videos, it was said that the claim of her withdrawal from the election was a rumour. The fake page warned about it by these two pages, as seen in the screenshot, has only four likes. However, the page was not found on verification.
